Anxiety
Anxiety

Our mind and body works hard to keep us safe, and anxious thoughts play an important role in that. An increase in alertness, fear, and even physical signs, such as a rapid heart rate are all intentional signals to look out for a threat- which may or may not be real. In therapy, we will identify patterns of your anxiety while emphasizing a self-care routine and enhancing your coping strategies. You will learn tools to recognize and cope with natural anxiety while challenging harmful thought patterns that fuel the more troubling anxiousness. Through minimizing symptoms and creating strengthened awareness, you'll be on your way to feeling more in control of your thoughts and reactions.

Life Transitions
Life Transitions

Change is inevitable and will occur plenty of times throughout our lives- planned and unplanned. Therapy is available during a difficult change can be an effective, healthy way to navigate transitions as smoothly as possible. Through learning and understanding which coping strategies work best for you, exploring how the transition is impactful to your life, and finding acceptance to move forward, having a non-judgmental space which allows you to fully express the range of emotions you may be feeling is so valuable.

Processing Trauma
Trauma

Trauma is defined not by the events themselves, but by how these experiences affect your daily life. The impact of trauma can be profound, often leading to feelings of anxiety, shame, and overwhelm. To participate in counseling in which there is a trauma-informed approach acknowledges the psychological, physiological, and emotional toll of the distress. There is no one-size-fits-all path to healing, though through a compassionate and sensitive therapeutic relationship, the path becomes less intimidating. With Emily Bentz Counseling, creating a safe and empathetic space where individuals can process their traumatic experience(s), develop healthy coping mechanisms, and work towards reclaiming a sense of safety and well-being is highly prioritized.

Traumatic experiences can include, but are not limited to: physical/sexual/psychological abuse, accidents, crime, natural disasters, medical illness, discrimination, etc.
